Role Played by the Department: -

Maintenance of Pre and Post Matric Hostels and Ashram Schools is the Major activity of the Department. In our District there are 53 Pre-Matric Hostels, 10 Post-Matric Hostels, 9 Ashram Schools, 4 Grant in Aid Hostels, 1 Morarji Desai Residential Schools and very shortly 2 Tailoring Centers are coming under this department. The Starting and maintaining of Pre and Post Matric hostels has the implicit objective of preventing drops out at the school level and assisting continuation of education by the backward Classes students at the post-Matric level. The Department has to look after Reservations for admission to the Educational Institutions as per Act 15(4) and Employment as per Act. 16(4) of the Constitutions of India.
